Co-curricular Activities
I believe in working to enhance the school community. Building strong relationships with parents, community groups, teachers and students is very important since modelling is integral to holistic teaching. Every year, I dedicate myself to committees that are student centered as well as work with the PTA.

Green Project

I am the Primary chair of the Green Project, which is our environmental committee. Our mission is to promote environmental education for the whole school community. As a Primary team, we run the Green Council, a weekly student led action group that promotes recycling, and awareness and the Green Activity, which largely focuses on our school garden and hands on activities. We also liason with the Upper school team to determine school wide action items and deliver our report as a CIS subcommittee.

PTA

From 2010 onwards, I have worked with the PTA at MEFIS and BIBS to promote school community and provide a voice for the teachers. Building parent relationships and parent trust is my central focus. Currently, I am one of two Primary teacher representatives on the PTA. We serve as liasons and help to support PTA initiatives. Last year, I participated in Messy Art Day, Family Fun Day, two discos and much more.

Special Events

At BIBS, I was head of Special Events. I planned everything from Halloween monster competitions, Reading Week to a giant Spring show. Planning large and small scale events helped develop my planning and collaboration skills. At MEFIS, I planned a community event called "Reading Across Languages" where the children attend parent readings in a variety of languages including Turkish, Korean, French and Spanish.

Charity

I believe strongly in the importance of charity and have worked as the co-ordinator at BIBS. In China, I organized Winter toy drives to support local orphanages. We raised money for children's hospitals. We sold class photos to raise funds for the school library. The children organized toy and book drives to raise funds for dog shelters.
